Historiana glass cabochon (or ‘glass tile') jewellery is made in the following way: an image is printed on archival paper and prepared with a coating, then glued with a special crystal-clear glaze to the base of the glass cabochon. This is then glued into the metal setting with industrial-strength jeweller's glue. The finished piece is water resistant but not waterproof; immersion in water could damage the image, so you are advised to keep your Historiana jewellery away from water. Minor splashes should not cause any damage, but don't wear your Historiana pieces in the shower!
Most of the metal components, including all the chains, are nickel, lead, and cadmium free. Some components may contain trace amounts, but are guaranteed to come within statutory EU safety limits. Please contact me if you would like to check the composition of a particular piece.
This however does not include special pieces which use ‘upcycled' vintage components, whose composition is unknown, and this will be indicated in the listing.
All earring hooks are sterling silver.
Pendant necklaces - the details
Most pendants come fitted to a black leather cord or organza ribbon necklace, included in the price. Or, for an extra £2.50, on a colour-matched 24" chain. Some pendants, for example the smaller pendant sizes, may come with only one option, as indicated in the listing.
Your Historiana jewellery will be posted to you in a black card gift box or organza pouch bag, as indicated in the listing. (Pendant necklaces on a leather cord will be sent in an organza bag, as being squeezed into a box can cause the leather to kink). The items are packed in a padded envelope, which should fit through your letterbox. Where you are ordering more than one piece, we will aim to arrange the contents of the envelope so that it maintains a letterbox-friendly slim profile.
