From the villa of Livia, wife of Augustus. The dining room (triclinum), built partially underground to keep it cool, was decorated with a lavish fresco depicting a garden, full of flowers and fruiting trees, foliage and birds. The frescoes are now kept at the Palazzo Massimo in Rome. 1st Century BC.
The bronze-tone brooch is made from nickel-free alloy, and the glass cabochon is 25mm across. Each brooch comes in a sturdy black card gift box.
