William & Caroline Herschel, sibling astronomers, 18th-19th century
Portraits of brother and sister astronomers, William and Caroline Herschel. William (1738-1822), King's Astronomer to George III, discovered the planet Uranus, and infrared radiation; while Caroline (1750-1858) is best known for the discovery of comets.
The earring pendants are silver-plated and the glass cabochon measures 18 x 13mm. All earrings have sterling silver hooks and come in a sturdy black card gift box.
